StFX students thrive in an intimate learning environment that nurtures the development of the whole person focusing on the academic and personal development of every student. StFX is home to four Faculties — Arts, Science, Business and Education — and is a member of the Maple League, a group of top-ranked universities committed to putting undergraduate education first.

A primarily undergraduate university of about 5,000 students, StFX is known for its exceptional teaching and research, vibrant student life, close-knit community, and opportunities for faculty and students to make a difference locally and in communities across the globe. Located in, StFX is truly a national university, with over half its student population coming from beyond Atlantic Canada.

Research is a core part of StFX’s educational experience. Undergraduate students, mentored by talented faculty, often have the unparalleled opportunity to become involved in leading-edge, hands-on research.

StFX values community development, social justice and global awareness. It is home to the world-renowned Coady Institute, a centre of excellence in community-based development and leadership education. In 1996, StFX pioneered Canada’s first Service Learning program and remains a leader in experiential education.

The StFX education model is valued for its immersive and engaging approach, attracting not only students, but also global thought-leaders who appreciate the highly personalized delivery as the best way to teach and learn. The university is home to the Frank McKenna Centre for Leadership, the Gerald Schwartz School of Business, and most recently, the newly opened Brian Mulroney Institute of Government.

St. Francis Xavier University promises to inspire and challenge students, to foster leadership, and to bring to life a world of opportunity. It is university as its meant to be.
